                              PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
                              ===================

Kerberos is a network authentication protocol designed to serve as a
trusted third-party authentication service. FNAL-Kerberos-clientonly
is a kit of client applications and supporting files needed to
connect to an FNAL Kerberized machine from a remote location. It can be
installed in any user directory and does not require root/administrator
privileges to operate. Instructions on how to setup and uninstall the
kit are included in the product. This is intended for use by people
who have no other access to Kerberized clients. People using the same
machine repeatedly, will likely find a full Kerberos install more
useful/convenient.

This distribution is intended for installation after an ftp download.
It does not require, nor even facilitate, a UPD/UPS installation.
For that, use the regular Kerberos product.

Documentation
-------------
Please see the online documentaion for Kerberos at:
    http://www.fnal.gov/docs/strongauth/html/strong_authTOC.html

Required Hardware and Software
------------------------------
There is an FNAL-Kerberos-clientonly version that will run under
RedHat 7.1 and compatable systems and one that will run under
Windows 2000 (+unknown other Windows versions)

Product Installation
--------------------
FNAL-Kerberos-clientonly is a client-only installation of
Kerberos on a Linux 2.4.x system. It can be setup by a
regular user in any directory they have permission to write to.

FNAL-Kerberos-clientonly is preconfigured to use the FNAL.GOV
realm. It is intended for the use and convenience of collaborators
of Fermilab in Illinois. If others find it useful, godspeed, but
no warrantee expressed or implied.

Chose a directory in which to unwind the tarfile.
It is most convenient to create a new directory.

To remove the product follow the UNINSTALL instructions.

Running the Software
--------------------
Execute the appropriate setup.[c]sh script from within the
directory in which you unwind the tarfile.

Then execute "kinit" to obtain your Kerberos credentials.

Finally, execute the client that you wish to use (eg. ./ssh).
